This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what happens to it. It is written in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, email us and we will answer.
Who we are
This site, hilltopdigital.co.uk, is operated by Hilltop Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17341760, with its registered office at 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, England, W1W 5PF. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this site. You can reach us at info@hilltopdigital.co.uk.
What we collect
The contact form.If you use it, we collect your name, email address, company name, the option you choose in the "what do you need" dropdown, and your message. That is all the form collects, and every field exists so we can understand and answer your inquiry.
Direct email. If you email us instead, we hold whatever you choose to include in your message.
Analytics. We use cookie-light, privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate, which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. This analytics setup does not use advertising cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not build a profile of you, which is why this site shows no cookie consent banner.
We do not collect anything else. There are no accounts, no newsletters signed up for silently, and no data bought from third parties.
How we use it and our lawful basis
We use contact form and email details to reply to you, and to keep a record of the inquiry so we know what was said if the conversation continues. Our lawful basis under UK data protection law is legitimate interest (responding to people who contact a business) and, where your inquiry leads toward working together, taking steps at your request before entering a contract. Analytics runs on our legitimate interest in understanding whether the site works, using data that does not identify you.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we never sell it.
Where your information goes
When you submit the contact form, your submission is stored in a database and a copy is emailed to the studio inbox. Both of those services are operated by providers who process the data on our behalf under contract, they may not use it for their own purposes. Some of our providers operate outside the UK, where that is the case the transfer is protected by recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
We share personal information with no one else, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiries for as long as we need them to handle the conversation and a reasonable period afterward, in case it resumes. If an inquiry becomes an engagement, the correspondence becomes part of our records for that engagement. You can ask us to delete your information at any time, and unless we have a legal reason to keep it, we will.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, and ask for it in a portable format. Email info@hilltopdigital.co.uk and we will respond. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you raise it with us first so we can fix it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top. We will not quietly weaken it.
Governing law
This policy, and our handling of personal information under it, is governed by the laws of England and Wales, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
